The ambulance services in Lebanon have developed into highly trained professional emergency medical services over the last few years. Most hospitals seem to view the ambulance service as mere patient transport service and an emergency medical service for adults and children while sick babies, neonates and premature would require specially equipped ambulances and pediatric ambulance personnel.
In 2018, ASSAMEH – Birth and Beyond acquired a new ambulance: the first and only government-owned neonatal mobile intensive care unit equipped with a portable incubator, a mobile respirator, an MRI compatible monitoring system with the latest techniques. Such transport facility will help prevent brain encephalopathy and neonatal asphyxia during transport. This new Ambulance ensures the safe transport from referral hospitals to the Beirut Governmental university hospital- Quarantina under the supervision of a team of well-trained doctors.
